A 40 minute opera about the climate change activist David Buckel, who self- immolated in Prospect Park NYC in 2018. In spite of such extreme actions, Buckel remains largely unheard of and his cause still sidelined. The opera explores the influences behind what drives a person to the ultimate gesture of violent non-violence, self-immolation.

Creative Juices in partnership with RNCM are proud to launch Protest! –

Over the summer, with support from a Genesis Foundation Kickstart grant, we have been working with RNCM composers Cally Stathan, Kevin Dorvil and Henry Page,

along with freelance librettist Gareth Mattey on three short 10 minute acapella operas on the theme of Protest.
